In 2023, Shenzhen Freshen Technology Co., Ltd. and the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (SIAT, CAS) launched a cooperative project to establish a Joint Laboratory of Perovskite Photovoltaic Equipment. This initiative aims to build a technology development platform in the field of perovskite optoelectronic materials and advanced equipment, with a primary focus on high-performance perovskite photovoltaic equipment and device fabrication.
Guided by frontier scientific research and addressing prominent challenges—including technical bottlenecks in the mass production of perovskite batteries, key testing technologies, core equipment, system integration, and application—the laboratory will fully leverage the complementary advantages of all consortium members to establish a deep integration innovation system of "production, education, research, and application."
Centered on the major technological needs of China's photovoltaic industry for technological upgrading and large-scale development, the laboratory will construct a high-level R&D and testing platform integrating basic research, common technology R&D, equipment integration, testing and certification, and industrial application. Its core goal is to achieve efficient and low-cost mass production of perovskite battery modules, establish and refine China's perovskite battery mass production process routes, and develop internationally leading technologies and equipment for the mass production of perovskite batteries.
With Professor Yang Chunlei as the academic leader, the laboratory has formed a well-structured, high-caliber research team through the introduction and appointment of visiting professors and part-time professors, hosting visiting scholars, and undertaking postgraduate training programs. The team is composed of professors and young doctors as the backbone, with professionals in perovskite process R&D, precision mechanism, and vision control as the mainstay. Currently, it has over 30 full-time and part-time R&D personnel, including 3 professors, 1 senior engineer, 1 researcher, 1 senior experimentalist, and 5 doctors.
The total construction area of the research facilities exceeds 1,000 square meters, with the total value of equipment exceeding RMB 15 million. Equipped with advanced instruments and superior research conditions, the laboratory has become a key base for high-level talent cultivation, technological research, and equipment development in the field of perovskite technology.
Under the guidance of the national "Dual Carbon" strategic goals, the laboratory will fully utilize the talent resources and cutting-edge scientific and technological achievements of research institutions, collaborate with enterprises to leverage their resource and scenario advantages, conduct cutting-edge technological research in the new energy field, and carry out in-depth industry cooperation to jointly promote the transformation and commercialization of scientific research achievements.
